An excellent headphone amplifier for an affordable price. It’s a transformer-coupled tube amp that packs in a lot of features that are unique for a tube amp and that can match well with a wider range of headphone types thanks to 5 different output impedance settings.
The Cayin HA-1A MK2 headphone amplifier is an audiophile model, using thermionic valves for reproduction characterized by a warm and persuasive tone. Very powerful, this compact integrated amplifier can power any hi-fi headphone and is especially suitable for headphones with an impedance of 600 ohms.
Since its founding, Cayin Spark has always based its amplifiers and players on thermionic valves. The listening realism provided by the tubes is indeed very convincing, thanks to a particularly high operating voltage. The Cayin HA-1A MK2 headphone amplifier uses 12AU7, EL84EH and 12DT5 tubes, combined with a very large power supply. A total of 65 watts are consumed during operation, and the HA-1A MK2 weighs no less than 9.5 kg. Many speaker amplifiers are lighter.
The Cayin HA-1A MK2 headphone amplifier has two RCA line inputs and a pre-out, for example, to drive a power amplifier (for speakers). It can thus perfectly fulfill the role of a hi-fi stereo preamplifier. The headphone output can be adjusted via a potentiometer on the front panel.
The output impedance of the amplifier can be adjusted in 5 modes:
- 8-32 ohms
- 33-64 ohms
- 65-150 ohms
- 151-300 ohms
- 600 ohms
Thus, depending on the impedance of the associated headphones, the amplifier's response curve is ideally matched, as is the damping factor. The use of an output impedance different from that of the headphones used is also perfectly possible, and the Cayin HA-1A MK2 headphone amplifier thus offers very interesting possibilities for sound customization.
Power ranges from 2x850 mW (64 ohms) to 2x2.2 W (600 ohms). All this ensures absolutely outstanding performance.
