Cayin iDAP-8 

Digital music streamer for desktop use. The iDAP-8 plays music files from Wifi, Bluetooth, hard disks, USB and SD cards and can do more than an ordinary streamer.  It is not just a music server or streamer, but also a modern computer solution for your music collection that also sounds good.

• This Android 9-based player with Google Play Store on board has a powerful Snapdragon 660 CPU. Some apps are pre-installed and more can be easily added. The iDAP-8 supports intelligent UX with an FPGA that generates an unadulterated I²s signal and is routed to the digital outputs via HDMI and AES/EBU.

The iDAP-8 is the perfect complement to our iDAC-8 D-A converter and iHA-8 headphone amplifier. iDAP-8's entire 128GB internal music storage, native Android streaming apps for Apple Music and Tidal streaming in Hi-Res Lossless quality, as well as network-based NAS audio applications can be controlled via HiByCast and HiByLink from HiBy Music.

The iDAP-8 is incredibly easy to use. Music streaming has never been so much fun, and rarely has it sounded so good. One of the reasons for this is that the iDAP-8 is equipped with very high-quality components. For example, an oversized 45-watt toroidal transformer, which forms the heart of the carefully selected components and creates the conditions for the best music streaming.  

 Play your music via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth, USB, SD card or via the 2.5-inch SATA hard disk slot, which is designed for an optional 4 TB hard disk. All inputs have been optimally shielded so that the signal path of the iDAP-8 is not disturbed.

The small DAC receives your streams, including Apple Music and Tidal feeds, which are protected by Direct Transport Audio to prevent resampling by Android. With HiByCast screen mirroring, you can control the iDAP-8's inputs and outputs from the comfort of your sofa via your Android or iOS device.

Cayin's FPGA chip then processes the data and outputs unaltered I²S data using two Accusilicon oscillators that provide bit, master and word clock references. This is then forwarded via HDMI to the I²S output, which is compatible with the pinout standard of our CS-100DAC, iDAC-6, iDAC-8, Matrix Audio, Denafrips and Wyred 4 Sound, among others. Alternatively, transmission can take place with the typical S/PDIF reliability in the form of the 110 Ohm AES/EBU output or via a 75 Ohm BNC and an RCA connection.
