The Caldera is ZMF’s first in-house planar magnetic headphone—built after years of R&D for listeners who love planar speed and resolution, but also want natural tone, authenticity, and physical presence. It blends the strengths of planar technology with the soul of a dynamic headphone.
At the heart of the design are two ZMF innovations: CAMS (Caldera Asymmetrical Magnet Structure), a patented magnet system that optimizes airflow and diaphragm control, and ADS (Atrium Damping System), which manages internal reflections and expands perceived depth. The result is a sound that feels natural and lifelike, while staying extremely detailed, coherent, and open.
Expect deep, authoritative bass, rich and harmonically complete mids, and clear, articulate treble without harshness. The stage is wide and layered—an ideal mix of dynamic-style immersion and planar precision.
This LTD version is crafted from Redwood Burl, a striking figured wood known for organic swirls, depth, and a true “3D” look. Each unit is unique, combining dramatic visuals with ZMF’s signature craftsmanship. Paired with the finely finished grills and hardware, it becomes an unmistakable statement piece.
Included are the Caldera Pads with a fluted profile, designed to balance airflow and pressure. Available in different materials, they play a key role in the Caldera’s open, detailed tuning.
With an 80 mm driver, 65 ohm impedance and ~95 dB/mW sensitivity, the Caldera works with many setups, but scales best with powerful, high-resolution amplifiers.
