NOIRE X™ updates the iconic AEON 2 NOIRE with Dan Clark Audio’s most advanced acoustic metamaterial tuning—the Acoustic Metamaterial Tuning System™ (AMTS™)—paired with an improved driver in a sleek, ergonomic design. The stealth black-on-black finish, earcups clad in Gorilla Glass 3, new earpads, a self-adjusting headband, and premium details highlight the many innovations—each aimed at maximum listening enjoyment. Acoustic Metamaterial Tuning System (AMTS)

The key feature of NOIRE X is AMTS, previously reserved for top models like Stealth, Expanse, E3, and Corina. This system uses metamaterial design concepts to shape the frequency response and eliminate high-frequency standing waves—a common cause of sharp or artificial treble. The result is a balanced, airy, highly detailed top end with no hardness or fatigue.

Better tech, better sound

NOIRE X is built around a revised AEON driver that’s stiffer, more uniform, lower in distortion, and more durable than its predecessor. Updated manufacturing and improved V-Planar embossing deliver smoother response and lower distortion across the band—bringing a level of detail previously associated with higher price tiers. Using Audio Precision 555B and B&K 5128 measurement systems, the driver was precisely matched with AMTS and the redesigned pads for exceptionally clear sound.

Self-adjusting headband

The self-tensioning headband distributes pressure evenly, reduces fatigue, and delivers a near-weightless fit. No slipping, no hotspots—ideal for long listening sessions.

Gorilla Glass 3 – design meets durability

Gorilla Glass 3 adds a subtle sheen and outstanding resistance to scratches and breakage. From the hand-stitched head strap to the tone-on-tone logo, the design communicates understatement and quality.

Superior comfort with new pads

Newly developed earpads feature Alcantara contact surfaces to minimize heat and moisture, staying comfortable in long sessions. A revised foam design reduces “foam rolling” and extends pad life. NOIRE X pads are compatible with AEON 2 NOIRE, AEON RT Closed, and AEON 2 Closed.

Versatile connectivity

Included are multiple terminations: a 6.3 mm / 3.5 mm combo plug, 4-pin XLR, and 4.4 mm balanced. For maximum flexibility, you can upgrade to VIVO Ultra-Premium cables in different lengths and terminations, connecting NOIRE X to virtually any amplifier—without expensive third-party cables.
