E3 is Dan Clark Audio’s breakthrough closed-back headphone. It’s engineered to capture DCA’s legendary open-back feeling in a closed design — delivering a presentation that feels both precise and deeply engaging, with unexpectedly spacious staging.

The look matches the ambition: a striking black-and-blue aesthetic, ergonomic forms, and Gorilla Glass 3 cup panels — paired with meticulous tuning and modern engineering.

AMTS – Acoustic Metamaterial Tuning System

DCA’s patented AMTS makes its way into a new category here — previously found primarily in Stealth, Expanse, and Corina. AMTS integrates waveguides, resonators, and diffusion chambers to reduce standing waves and deliver highs that are clear and silky, without glare.

For E3, the implementation was fully redesigned, resulting in more realistic tone and more consistent bass performance across the spectrum.

5th-generation planar driver

E3’s newly developed planar magnetic driver delivers greater uniformity, lower distortion, and a remarkably fluid, detailed presentation. New diaphragm materials and refined V-Planar™ treatment achieve a level of resolution often associated with top electrostatics — yet with musical ease and natural timbre.

Dual-Mode Bass Port

The distinctive openings in the glass panels are part of the new Dual-Mode Bass Port — a DCA patent designed to precisely control low-frequency response. It enables bass that’s powerful yet controlled, without bloat or midrange masking — balancing punch with accuracy.

Sound & stage

E3 combines fine nuance and explosive dynamics. The stage is unusually wide and deep for a closed-back — competitive even with top open designs. Bass is defined, mids are silky, highs are fluid and natural: never fatiguing, always captivating.

Comfort & ergonomics

A self-adjusting NiTinol (Nickel-Titanium “memory metal”) headband and folding gimbals make E3 compact and travel-friendly. The ergonomic design is built for hours of effortless listening — very much in the spirit of DCA’s flagship models.

Gorilla Glass 3 design

Gorilla Glass 3 adds rigidity and a premium visual depth reminiscent of open grilles — a symbol of the open, spacious signature E3 delivers in a closed format. High-end materials and hand-finished details complete the luxury feel.
