Reference-class planar magnetic headphones
The Final Audio D8000 DC marks a fresh start for a reference. “DC” stands for Da Capo — back to the beginning — and represents a complete re-development of the original. Seven years after the first D8000 and more than 2,000 units sold worldwide, Final sets new benchmarks for innovation, naturalness and long-term comfort.
New driver & AFDS system
The Air Film Damping System (AFDS) has been completely revised: a new hole diameter, optimized metal punching pattern, and the removal of the front magnet increase diaphragm aperture by 70%. 1.5× thicker pads raise the acoustic volume, delivering deeper bass and refined highs. At the same time, overall weight drops by around 100 g — noticeably lighter on the head.
AFDS — Air Film Damping System
Patented AFDS controls diaphragm movement through the viscosity of air, enabling deep, clean bass without mechanical limitation. Different punching patterns on the front and rear improve bass and openness. The ultra-light aluminium driver reduces moving mass by around a third compared to dynamic systems — for maximum precision and resolution.
Materials & comfort
The driver frame uses an aluminium-magnesium alloy with highly precise machining and a resonance-controlled premium coating. Open washi earpads (+50% thicker) offer excellent breathability and natural tonal color. The headband uses the same premium materials for long-term stability and comfort.
Made in Japan & longevity
Each D8000 DC is built under strict quality control at Final’s factory in Kawasaki, using in-house tooling and precise assembly. The modular design supports easy servicing and upgrades for years of use.
Included accessories
Included are two detachable OFC copper cables (1.5 m with 4.4 mm 5-pole plug and 3 m XLR) plus a robust locking transport case. Made in Japan.
