The Final Audio D8000 DC redefines planar-magnetic excellence. “DC” stands for Da Capo—back to the beginning—signalling a complete reinvention of the original. Seven years after the first D8000 and over 2,000 units sold, Final sets new standards for clarity, refinement and comfort.
Driver & AFDS Innovation
The patented Air Film Damping System (AFDS) has been redesigned: a new hole diameter, optimized punch pattern, and removal of the front magnet increase the diaphragm aperture by 70%. 1.5× thicker earpads expand acoustic volume for a wide stage with deep bass and silky highs. Weight drops by around 100 g for improved wearing comfort.
AFDS Explained
AFDS uses the viscosity of air to control diaphragm movement, allowing deep, undistorted bass without mechanical limits. Different front and rear punch patterns optimize bass and openness. An ultralight aluminium diaphragm reduces moving mass by one-third vs dynamic drivers for greater speed and treble refinement.
Build & Comfort
A rigid aluminium-magnesium alloy frame with a premium, resonance-damping finish ensures stability. Open washi earpads (+50 % thicker) offer breathability and natural tonality. The headband uses matching materials for durability and comfort.
Made in Japan & Accessories
Hand-built in Kawasaki with in-house tooling and strict quality control – Made in Japan. Includes two detachable OFC cables (1.5 m 4.4 mm 5-pole & 3 m XLR) and a locking carry case.
