The larger streaming hub with an AKM DAC section and 8.6-inch display
The Eversolo DMP-A8 Gen 2 is Eversolo's central streaming hub for serious two-channel systems: network streamer, high-resolution DAC, digital transport and a fully balanced preamp in a redesigned aluminium chassis with a generous 8.6-inch touchscreen.
The conversion section uses the current AKM combination of AK4499EXEQ and AK4191EQ, natively supporting DSD512 and PCM up to 768 kHz/32-bit, fed by two separate, ultra-low-noise clocks for multiples of 44.1 and 48 kHz. The fully balanced analogue preamp delivers up to +10 dB of gain and uses a precise R-2R resistor ladder for volume control – outputs are available as XLR (4.2 V) and RCA (2.1 V), plus a subwoofer output.
Power comes from a 64-bit octa-core processor with 8 GB of DDR5 memory and 64 GB of internal eMMC storage, complemented by an M.2 NVMe slot for a local music library. The redesigned 8.6-inch screen shows larger album art, VU meters and real-time spectrum displays; for networking there's Wi-Fi 6, Gigabit Ethernet, SFP fibre and Bluetooth 5.4.
Anyone after a more compact, more affordable solution should look at the DMP-A6 Gen 2; anyone wanting even more precision through OCXO clocking, a 10 MHz input and a built-in CD drive should move to the DMP-A8 Master Edition Gen 2. Anyone chasing the outright flagship ends up at the DMP-A10.
