The Gold Note DS-10 EVO carries the concept of the larger DS-1000 EVO – D/A converter, preamplifier, headphone amp and network streamer in one unit – into a significantly more compact chassis. Via USB-B, the DS-10 EVO supports PCM resolutions up to 32-bit/384kHz and DSD512, making it digitally just as future-proof as its bigger sibling.

As a network streamer, the DS-10 EVO covers nearly every relevant service: Spotify, Spotify Connect, TIDAL, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz, Deezer and vTuner, plus Roon Ready and AirPlay. Dual-band Wi-Fi ensures a stable network connection, firmware updates arrive over the air, Bluetooth 5.0 is on hand for pairing with mobile sources, and everything is controlled comfortably through the GN Control app.

The range of connections is impressive for a unit this size: two TOSLINK, coaxial and AES/EBU inputs plus USB-A and USB-B as digital inputs, along with analogue XLR and RCA inputs. RCA and XLR outputs are available, and a dedicated headphone output with two selectable sensitivity levels (High/Low) also turns the DS-10 EVO into a complete headphone hub.

Within the DS family, the DS-10 EVO sits between the new entry-level DS-5.2 and the larger DS-1000 EVO: more digital inputs and a bigger chassis than the DS-5.2, but more compact and more accessibly priced than the flagship. For anyone who also wants a built-in preamplifier to drive a power amp directly, the DS-10 EVO LINE variant provides exactly that.
