The Matrix Audio TS-1 combines a network streamer, a D/A converter and a fully-fledged headphone amplifier in a single compact chassis – ideal for anyone who wants a complete digital source without stacking separate components, whether on a desk or as the heart of a compact system.

Inside sits a fully balanced AKM AK4493SEQ converter, prized for its balanced, musical sound character. The headphone output is available both through the 4.4mm Pentaconn jack and the classic 6.3mm socket – enough headroom for most dynamic headphones and plenty of planar-magnetic ones too.

Connectivity is generous: Ethernet, two USB 3.0 ports, optical and coaxial digital inputs, HDMI ARC for home-cinema integration, and USB-B for a computer connection rated up to PCM 768kHz and DSD 22.4MHz native. An AUX input rounds out the analogue side; on the output side you get RCA, XLR, a subwoofer output and a trigger. Control runs through the MA Remote app; Roon Ready, AirPlay 2, Audirvana and UPnP are supported, along with Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz and vTuner.

Compared to the Mini-i Pro 4, the TS-1 is the larger, more comprehensively equipped model, adding an HDMI ARC input, a subwoofer output and more digital connectivity – the right pick for anyone wanting an even more versatile all-in-one solution.
