Hybrid Power System — intelligent power tuning, now with dual outputs
Hybrid Power System is Ferrum’s idea of a power supply that communicates directly with the device it powers via dedicated internal traces — delivering the right amount of current exactly when transient demand peaks. Sonically, this translates into a tighter, more dynamic presentation — and the ability to fine-tune the sound beyond EQ by deliberately adjusting the power delivery.
When used with Ferrum’s own devices, you can, for example, set the output voltage between 22–30 V to shift the presentation from “smooth yet detailed” to “brutally detailed, still without sibilance”. It may sound unusual — but it becomes immediately obvious in a listening test.
Devices can be selected on the touchscreen, or — if not listed — powered by manually entering current and amperage values. HYPSOS can also be paired with an Apple remote to put the unit into standby from a distance.
Now with two outputs
Previously, powering two devices from one HYPSOS was possible via a splitter — but not exactly elegant. With ample reserves, HYPSOS can supply a second device reliably. That’s why the HYPSOS Dual features two DC outputs.
