DAC, Class A headphone amplifier and preamp with ESS ES9039PRO
The Conductor Voyager is Burson Audio’s large all-in-one: DAC, headphone amplifier and preamp in a 7 kg chassis. At the heart of the digital section is the ESS ES9039PRO with discrete I/V and low-pass stages. The amplifier section runs in Class A with four Onsemi transistors per channel, and Burson specifies 10 W into 32 Ω via XLR.

Unlike the Conductor Stellar, the Voyager also accepts analogue sources (2× XLR, 2× RCA). There is also USB-C with an XMOS receiver (PCM up to 768 kHz/32 bit, native DSD512), coaxial and optical, and Bluetooth 5.0 with LDAC, aptX HD and AAC. Hi-Fi News points out that analogue inputs pass through a 192 kHz/24 bit A/D converter. On the output side, XLR and RCA are available as variable or fixed, along with a subwoofer output and a microphone input on the front.

Good to know: The power figures come from Burson. In the lab, Hi-Fi News measured 8.91 W into 8 Ω and 2.74 W into 32 Ω. For sensitive headphones, the magazine advises low gain.
Issue 03/2026: Outstanding Product award and 88 % for sound quality. The review praises clarity, subtlety and plenty of power. It criticises the hard-to-read display symbols and recommends sticking to the default settings.
The review gives the Highly Impressive Award and reports the highest resolution it has heard from a Burson all-in-one so far. The fans were inaudible under all conditions, and sensitive IEMs stayed free of hiss on low gain.
For anyone who wants just one large unit on the desk and connects analogue as well as digital sources. If you already own a DAC, the Soloist Voyager saves you paying for a second one.
