The best-rated deck of the range in the German press

The Giglio sits between the Pianosa and the Mediterraneo, and it is the best-rated Gold Note deck in the German press. It is the first in the range whose platter is 33 mm of extra-dense POM rather than vinyl – a material offering more mass with less resonance of its own.

The platter runs on a 5 mm tungsten ball bearing, combined with the patented Split-Spindle clamp at the platter spindle. Rumble measures −78 dB, one decibel better than the Pianosa.

The pulley is ground to an hourglass profile so the belt centres itself instead of wandering. The B-5.2 arm is standard – the successor to the B-5.1, with the same key figures: 9 inches, a straight 6000-series aluminium wand, four GRW micro ball bearings, 242 mm effective length and 10 g effective mass. The B-7 Ceramic is available as an upgrade. The arm comes factory-fitted and adjusted; no cartridge is included. Besides Italian walnut, the plinth is also available in white, with a matt black acrylic upper plinth, at the same price.

Who is this turntable for?

For listeners who find the Pianosa too little and the Mediterraneo too much. The Giglio closes the gap between them and has the most solid review record of all four in the German-speaking market.
