Flagship hybrid electrostatic headphone amplifier
The SRM-T8000 represents STAX’s current flagship electrostatic amplifier and combines decades of expertise in electrostatic headphone design with a modern hybrid circuit topology. Developed as an uncompromising partner for STAX’s finest earspeakers, the T8000 blends the tonal richness and spatial smoothness of classic tube stages with the speed, control and stability of modern solid-state amplification.
At the input stage, STAX employs a pair of carefully selected 6922 dual triodes, while the output stage is based around a powerful Class-A MOSFET design. This hybrid architecture creates an exceptional balance of musicality, precision and dynamics. Especially demanding models such as the SR-009S and SR-X9000 benefit from the amplifier’s outstanding voltage stability and authoritative control.
Sonically, the SRM-T8000 delivers an exceptionally open, refined and effortless presentation. Vocals sound natural and three-dimensional, while the finest microdetails remain clearly resolved at all times. At the same time, the amplifier offers greater low-end authority, dynamics and overall weight than previous generations of traditional STAX drivers, without sacrificing the speed and airiness electrostatic systems are famous for.
Special attention has been paid to the power supply and internal signal routing. The amplifier features a generously sized toroidal transformer, fully balanced internal signal paths and a mechanically resonance-controlled chassis. Its thick aluminum front panel and premium build quality further emphasize the uncompromising nature of the T8000.
With balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs, the SRM-T8000 integrates effortlessly into high-end audio systems and serves as an ideal control center for modern electrostatic reference setups.
