External power supply, for the Gold Note PH-10 only
A phono signal is the smallest signal in the whole chain. An MC cartridge delivers a few tenths of a millivolt, and that has to be amplified a thousandfold before anything else in the rack even notices it. Whatever unrest the power supply contributes gets amplified along with it.
That is exactly what the PSU-10 addresses. It takes the power supply out of the PH-10 chassis and puts it in a box of its own, at a physical distance from the sensitive amplification circuit. Inside are four transformers: three for supply, one dedicated to an inductive filter. Four separate rails with especially low-noise regulators feed the sections of the PH-10 independently, so that none disturbs the others.
It is worth having above all if you run a low-output MC cartridge — that is, exactly where the PH-10 on its internal supply reaches its limit. If you listen only to MM, the difference will be considerably harder to find.
Important: The PSU-10 fits the PH-10 only. It is not the same device as the PSU-10 EVO, which is intended for other Gold Note components and expressly does not fit the PH-10. The PH-10 must be running current firmware; we check this before shipping.

„The PSU-10 is a simple upgrade to install but its effect is large indeed. Separating the power supply into a different box, placed away from the main phono amplifier with its enhanced parts to boot, ups the sound quality over all frequencies producing a high quality, more mature and richer sound output.“

„As stated already, the addition of the PSU-10 lifts the PH-10 into another league instantly. The result of the upgrade is more than what the additional cost suggests as far as sonics can be valued in pecunia and thus highly recommended.“
hifialex.com, Alex Gorouvein, July 2018
„Adding the power supply had an immediate and striking effect. The noise floor had dropped considerably, which translated into more clarity and detail, larger imaging, better bass control and faster dynamics.“

For PH-10 owners running a low-output MC cartridge who are reaching the limit of the internal supply. Worth buying alongside the PH-10 if the cartridge is already chosen and quiet; otherwise listen to the PH-10 on its own first and add it later — the upgrade can be done at any time and takes minutes. The PSU-10 is not intended for any other Gold Note component.
