What does that mean?

The black line is what can best be described as the “ideal” target for headphone sound. Harman Audio has been conducting scientific research for years, in part to determine what headphone response would please the vast majority of listeners. From left to right you see sub-bass, bass, mids, and then a first rise in the treble — a region naturally boosted by the shape of the human ear, which is why the measurement doesn’t look perfectly flat there.

These headphones are tuned for two things: fun and high detail retrieval. They’ve managed to create an open headphone that still carries a small bass lift instead of the typical big drop. You don’t see that often — and that’s exactly why these headphones are such a joy.
