The Play, now with a built-in CD drive for playback and ripping

The Eversolo Play CD Edition is the logical extension of the Eversolo Play: exactly the same combination of network streamer, hi-res DAC, Class-D integrated amplifier and phono preamp, plus a built-in Hitachi-LG optical drive – for anyone who'd rather keep using their CD collection than digitise or sell it off.

The drive sits in its own vibration-damped bay and either plays CDs directly or rips them losslessly to the network or an attached drive – after which the music is permanently available in the library, without needing a separate CD drive on a computer. Sound and feature set otherwise stick with the familiar Play formula: AKM's AK4493SEQ converter with Velvet Sound™ technology, 60 watts into 8 Ω or 110 watts into 4 Ω from the Class-D amp, and a full phono input for MM and MC cartridges.

The CD Edition is likewise controlled via the 5.5-inch touchscreen and the Eversolo Control app, including a parametric equaliser, room correction, and deep integration with TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music, Deezer, Radio Paradise and Roon Ready. Because of the CD drive, the CD Edition weighs around 300 grams more than the regular Play, with otherwise identical dimensions.

Anyone who doesn't need a CD drive saves a bit of budget and weight with the regular Eversolo Play, at identical sound quality. Anyone after more output power or balanced connections will find the right alternative in the DMP-A series paired with an external amplifier.
