Stereophile Class A, three years running

The Mediterraneo X is the Mediterraneo taken further, and Gold Note’s reference deck. The chassis is built in three layers: solid aluminium on top, a 3 mm stainless steel plate beneath it, and the curved Italian wood base below that. Three materials with three different resonant frequencies, each damping the others.

The platter weighs 7 kilograms and combines aluminium with high-density POM, running on a 4.3 mm ceramic ball. Rumble measures −82 dB, another two decibels better than the Mediterraneo.

The tonearm is the B-7 Ceramic X, the version revised for this deck. At 25 kilograms this is not a thing you move around casually.
