Cayin RU7
Portable USB DAC/Amp dongle with discrete 1-bit resistor network
Connected to the USB interface of phones, tablets, and computers, the Cayin RU7 converts locally stored or streamed music with the precision of Cayin’s own discrete 1-bit resistor network DAC.
The RU7 is built to meet the high expectations of demanding hi-fi enthusiasts for mobile playback and to compensate for the limited audio capabilities of smartphones, computers, or tablets. Simply connect it via USB-C. Once placed between your source device and headphones, the RU7 takes over digital-to-analog conversion and delivers a clean, analog output signal.
Conversion is handled by a discrete 1-bit resistor network built from 128 thin-film resistors, arranged in four groups of 32— a concept that already proved itself in Cayin’s N7 DAP. The RU7 supports PCM up to 384 kHz and DSD up to DSD256.
Also inherited from the N7: All-to-DSD mode. This enables native DSD processing on a smartphone for high-quality streams, or converts incoming signals to DSD before routing them through the conversion network. Alternatively, the RU7 can decode PCM streams up to 384 kHz.
The RU7 features both a 3.5 mm single-ended output and a balanced 4.4 mm Pentaconn output. Output power is 160 mW (3.5 mm) and up to 400 mW (4.4 mm), both rated at 32 Ω—more than enough to drive many power-hungry headphones with ease.
Its clean, elegant dongle design is equally convincing: rounded edges and a black finish keep things understated and premium. A 128×64 OLED display shows playback data rate and volume at a glance.
Included accessories: a leather case plus magnets to attach the RU7 securely to a phone case without residue. A USB-C cable for Android phones or iPads and a USB-A adapter complete the set.
