Violectric DHA V590² PRO

Reference DAC, 32-bit resampler and high-power headphone amplifier

The Violectric DHA V590² PRO combines a high-end D/A converter, 32-bit resampling/reclocking, a preamplifier and a powerful headphone amplifier in one unit. Digital signals enter via XLR, RCA, optical or USB, are processed by the 32-bit resampling/reclocking stage with a femto clock, and are then converted to analog by the ESS Technology ES9026 PRO (up to 384 kHz and DSD-over-PCM (DoP)).

What is the difference to the standard version?
The only – but decisive – difference is the volume control: while the Violectric DHA V590² uses a motorized Alps RK27 potentiometer, the PRO version uses a 256-step relay attenuator (0.4 dB per step) built with gas-filled reed relays. The result: perfect channel matching across the entire range, no channel imbalance at low volumes (a common issue with cheaper potentiometers), and minimal crosstalk. All other specifications – D/A converter, amplifier power, connections – are identical between both versions.

Highlights

  • 32-bit resampler/reclocker with up to 180 dB dynamic range for virtually jitter-free playback
  • ESS Technology ES9026 PRO DAC with 4× 32-bit converters per channel, –110 dB THD+N and 124 dB dynamic range
  • ±18 dB PRE-GAIN for optimal matching with any headphone/source combination
  • Precision volume control via 256-step relay attenuator (0.4 dB per step) for perfect channel matching with no imbalance at low volumes – plus balance control
  • Four amplifier stages with 6400 mW @ 50 Ω and 21 V RMS @ 600 Ω
  • DC and overload monitoring, delayed output enabling
