A pure-bred, dual-mono AKM flagship converter
The Eversolo DAC-Z10 is Eversolo's answer for anyone who already owns a streamer, or simply prefers to buy source and converter separately: a dedicated digital-to-analogue converter with an active preamp stage, no network front-end of its own, but a conversion section that until now was reserved for Eversolo's largest all-in-one units.
Inside sits a genuinely dual-mono AKM signal path: each channel gets its own AK4191 + AK4499EX pairing, its own linear power supply, and its own signal route from input to output – no shared components, no compromise between left and right. Timing comes from Eversolo's own “Precision Core”, a combination of an OCXO oven-controlled crystal oscillator, PLL and FPGA clock reconstruction, complemented by external 10 MHz/25 MHz clock inputs for anyone wanting to feed in an outboard master clock.
The preamp stage is fully balanced, uses a precise R2R volume network rather than a simple digital attenuator, and delivers up to +10 dB of analogue gain via XLR and RCA. A 6.35 mm headphone output with automatic impedance detection rounds things off – happy with anything from sensitive IEMs to high-impedance studio cans. On the digital side the Z10 accepts almost anything a source can throw at it: USB, I²S over HDMI with eight selectable modes, AES/EBU, two coaxial and two optical inputs, plus HDMI ARC/eARC – all the way up to PCM 768 kHz/32-bit and DSD512.
The natural partner here is the Eversolo T8 or the flagship T10: pure streaming transports with no DAC of their own, passing their digital signal to the Z10 bit-perfect. If you'd rather have streamer, DAC and preamp in a single box, the DMP-A series (A6, A8, A10) is the better fit – the DAC-Z10 is deliberately the counter-model for anyone who prefers to build their chain component by component.
„It’s simply as capable a DAC/preamp/headphone amp as this sort of money can buy.“

„Eversolo have done a fantastic job at making a reference DAC here, and it is one of those devices that shows that implementation is everything when it comes to DAC chips.“
