The open Bokeh in a limited wood edition

Limited edition, available while ZMF makes it. ZMF builds every pair to your configuration in Chicago; delivery takes about 6–10 weeks. The grain and colour of the wood vary from piece to piece and from the photos.

For this LTD edition ZMF makes the cups of the Bokeh Open from Asian Satinwood. Asian Satinwood is curly pyinma. The tree, botanically a crape myrtle (Lagerstroemia speciosa) with purple blossoms, grows in the river valleys of Myanmar and Southeast Asia. In its curly form, tight waves of figure run across a pale honey surface; tilt the cup and the light rolls through the grain, shifting from pale gold to soft bronze.

The grilles are solid bubinga, a rosy African hardwood with fine darker veining, backed with navy cloth. The chassis is black aluminium, and knurled Coffee Gold rods tie the two woods together. You choose a leather or a vegan suede headband.

Technology and tuning come from the Bokeh Open: an 80 Ω driver with an LCP (liquid crystal polymer) diaphragm and the Atrium Damping System tuned for the open design. At ~103 dB/mW it already runs from a laptop or portable player and gains further on a good amplifier.

It comes with Caldera Ultra Perf pads installed, hybrid (protein/suede) or vegan suede. For a surcharge there is the tuning kit with two more pads and Solid Titan Mesh, single extra pads or just the mesh. The cable has jack plugs at the headphone end; you choose the amplifier plug: 3.5 mm, 4.4 mm, 6.35 mm or 4-pin XLR.
