EISA Award 2026/27: 10-inch carbon and aluminium tonearm, 900-gram acrylic platter and true balanced output via mini-XLR.
A débutante in name only
The Debut Reference 10 carries the name of the entry-level series but no longer belongs there technically. LowBeats called it “no débutante for beginners, but a reference beyond its price class” – which describes this deck’s position rather well.
The tonearm measures 10 inches instead of the usual 9. A longer arm traces a shallower arc, so the tracking error across the side is smaller – particularly in the inner grooves, where distortion otherwise rises. It is a one-piece carbon and aluminium design, and VTA and azimuth are adjustable: you can match it to a different cartridge rather than living with the factory setting.
The chassis is diamond-cut aluminium on three height-adjustable damped feet. The platter is 300 mm of acrylic – a material whose resonance behaviour resembles that of the record itself, which is why no felt mat is needed.
The real reason this deck belongs in a high-quality chain is its true balanced output on mini-XLR. A cartridge signal is balanced by nature; ordinary RCA wiring throws that advantage away. With a balanced phono stage you keep it. An RCA output is provided in parallel, and the matching cable is included.
„The Pro-Ject’s delivery sounds clear, organised and authoritative, and its presentation is open and spacious, too.“
