Atrium [ey-tree-uhm] is a term from Roman architecture describing a central open space—often with a vaulted ceiling—that invites light and depth. ZMF Atrium brings that concept into audio: our most open design, using a patented damping system to enhance stage layering, depth, tactility, and natural timbre.
Atrium expands the spacious listening experience that began with the Auteur (now Auteur Classic). It uses the same biocellulose driver and ZMF’s linear tuning, while delivering even more space and immersion.
Like the Vérité, Atrium continues ZMF’s tradition of pairing innovative acoustic engineering with organic musicality. Its biocellulose driver delivers remarkable texture and microdynamics without giving up warmth or naturalness—hallmarks of the ZMF sound.
As the next step in ZMF’s open-back line, Atrium offers a sound that’s lush yet precise, with a wide, coherent stage and impressive depth layering. It’s built for deep listening sessions where technical performance and emotion meet.

What does this mean?
The line marked as target is something you could call the “ideal” curve: a target response derived from research by the Harman group, exploring what kind of headphone tuning tends to be preferred by a broad range of listeners – regardless of age or demographics. This is often referred to as the Harman Target.
From left to right you see sub-bass, bass, mids, and then the curve tilts upward where treble begins. That part of the spectrum is naturally amplified by the shape of the human ear.
The Atrium sits noticeably above the target in the bass and lower mids – the full, warm signature ZMF is known for; only the deepest bass below 40 Hz rolls off slightly. The presence region around 3 kHz hits the target, above that the treble is tuned more relaxed – never sharp, easy over long sessions. Left and right channels track each other closely, a sign of careful driver matching.
